    Priscilla Pelkey

On December 30th, 2016, Mom went peacefully to be with Jesus. She celebrated her 95th birthday on November 30th.
Mom was adopted by her aunt and uncle, Myra and William Tillotson of Sheldon, after her mother, Glen Carter passed away when she was 3.
Mom studied 9 months to be a RN, leaving due to surgery. She married Silas Pelkey who predeceased her in 1988.
Mom worked many jobs till age 80, starting with store work, Fonda Container, Leader Evaporator, babysitting and many years of care giving at the King’s Daughters Home and in private homes.
Mom was a wonderful, wife, mother, and grandmother. I never heard mom and dad argue. She refused to worry. She always said, “We take things as they come.” She also said, “If something is worth doing, it is worth doing well.” Mom will be greatly missed by her only daughter, “Me”, Judith and my husband, Stephen Rafferty, who lovingly cared for her for 8 years.
As Tanner Hubis said, “She was fun, loving and hilarious woman and was always a step ahead of us.”
Mom enjoyed many summers at their camp that Dad built at St. Albans Bay. She loved to go on boat rides and sit on an island and read while Dad and I fished. She enjoyed long car rides with our neighbor friends and getting together with friends after church. She liked taking care of the babies at church also. We had many fun picnics on Burton Island, Savage Island and Butler Island. She always took my friend also. She felt it was important for me to always have the company of friends. After Dad passed, Mom and I did a lot of traveling, tenting and picnicking.
Mom’s one sister, Ruth Draper and father William Carter predeceased her.
She also leaves two very much loved grandchildren and their spouses, Shawn and Elizabeth Rafferty and Heather and Derick Billado, as well as four great-grandchildren, Hunter and Austin Billado and Holdyn and Deaglan Rafferty.
Thank you and God Bless Franklin County Home Health and Hospice Staff and volunteers and Dr. Bayard for the wonderful care and loving people you are.
I thank the Lord for his strength He gave us to take good care of Mom.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, January 5th, 2017, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Pastor William Simmons officiating.
